Italy's Yannick Siner won the US Open men's tennis title, and with that he took a check for $3.6 million from the prize fund, BNR reported.

In the final in New York in front of the packed stands on court "Arthur Ashe" the leader in the world ranking defeated the American Taylor Fritz with 6:3, 6:4, 7:5 in 2 hours and 17 minutes.

Intrigue in the meeting was largely absent, and the experts' expectations that the 22-year-old Siner would congratulate himself with his second Grand Slam title were justified.

The match started with a break for the Italian, but Fritz, who was making his Slam finals debut, quickly recovered and broke back to even the lead at 3:2.

However, a new streak followed for Siner, who won the next four games and took the first set.

In the second, both tennis players were winning their serves relatively easily until the tenth game. In it, Siner managed to make a new breakthrough, which brought him the win in the second part of the match.

The third set was the most dramatic. In that game with a score of 3:2, Siner had two break points, but Fritz countered them. The American leveled the games at 3:3, and then made a break, with which he was 5:3 ahead in the result. However, he was unable to close the set, he allowed Siner to equalize at 5:5, and then the Italian did not miss the opportunity to make another break, which would bring him the victory and the coveted trophy.

Sinner, who won the Australian Open earlier in the year, became the first Italian to become the men's champion at Flushing Meadows. At the same time, Fritz failed to bring the first title for American men's tennis since 2003, when Andy Roddick triumphed in the same tournament. However, he will be able to settle for $1.8 million from the prize pool.
