Josep Guardiola has not ruled out the possibility of leading the England national team next year summer, when his contract with the English football champion Manchester City expires, writes DPA agency, quoted by Topsport.

The post is vacant following the departure of Gareth Southgate, and Lee Carsley is interim coach.

Asked about his future in an interview with Italian television Che tempo Che Fa, Guardiola replied: "You're asking me if I'm leaving City, aren't you? It's not true. I haven't decided yet. It is also not true that I will certainly be the coach of England. I don't know anything at the moment, anything is possible.

Former Manchester United captain and Sky Sports pundit Roy Keane believes the FA should wait until next summer before appointing a new coach. He is adamant that the European vice-champions need only the best.

"The FA must attack with all means the best coach. Only the best! Pep's contract expires in the summer," said the former United midfielder.
