Argentine Formula 1 rookie Franco Colapinto of the Williams team is uncertain about taking part in tomorrow morning's Las Vegas Grand Prix after crashing heavily in qualifying, Reuters reported.
The 21-year-old rider was taken to a medical center after crashing into the wall during the second qualifying round before the race. The race was stopped to clear the track of debris from his car.
"Franco suffered a severe blow that requires medical examination. It needs to be reviewed so we know if it can compete. "His health comes first and we're glad he's doing well overall," Williams wrote.
This is the second accident in a row for Colapinto after the incident in Brazil. The Argentine replaced American Logan Sergeant at Williams from the Italian Grand Prix in September, making excellent first impressions and scoring points in Azerbaijan and Austin. Las Vegas could be the seventh start of his career.
The Williams team is in ninth place out of ten teams in the constructors' standings.
