Despodov begins training with PAOK

Kiril Despodov will be ready to start training with his club team PAOK at the end of the month. The striker, who is recovering from an injury, assured that he will not undergo surgery.

The captain of the national team dispelled rumors that he may miss the match against Spain at the start of the World Cup qualifiers in September. A big toe injury prevented Despodov from helping Bulgaria in the tests against Cyprus and Greece.

"Operation not commented. This is a very extreme decision. I am preparing according to a program that I have sent from PAOK. I can't wait to start training on June 25 with the team. Spain is very far away. The match is in September. There are almost two and a half months and I will prepare in the best way possible to be available for the national team", Despodov told BNT.

The Bulgarian captain also commented on the 0:4 loss on the island of Crete. "I watched the match. We didn't perform at the required level, especially the second half. There is still a lot that is required of us as a team. It was clear that we were also out of shape physically. Maybe this is our level for the moment. We will work to change it", added the offensive player.
