Unfortunately, the Bulgarian Formula 3 driver Nikola Tsolov recorded his worst qualification since the beginning of the 2025 season, after qualifying only 21st in the extremely contested session on the “Hungaroring“ track, sportal.bg reported.
Tsolov and his teammates in Campos Mari Boya and Tasanapol Intrapuvasak chose not to go out on the track with the other drivers and waited to have a clean track. However, even this did not help Tsolov, who had not felt completely comfortable on the Hungarian track since the morning practice session, in which he also had a breakdown.
The Bulgarian Lion's best lap was done in 1:33.037, but it was a full 0.527 seconds slower than that of Rafael Camara, who won his fifth pole position of the season. With it, the Brazilian also earned two additional points in the general classification, which swelled his lead over Tsolov to 30 points.
This difference more or less means that the Bulgarian can now say goodbye to his chances for the title, which could become the possession of Camara as early as Sunday. The Brazilian will guarantee himself the crown one round before the end of the season if, after Sunday's main race near Budapest, he leads by more than 39 points over his closest pursuer, who is currently Tsolov.
In other words, today Camara won the pole position with a lead of 0.008 over Boya, and behind them on the second row will be Tuuka Taponen and Gerard Xi. The top 10 on the starting grid will be formed by Teofil Nael, Charlie Wurz, Hugo Ugochoucwu, Brando Badoer, Alessandro Giusti and James Wharton. James Headley and Intrapuvasak remained 11th and 12th and they will split the front row when the top 12 turn for the start of the sprint tomorrow.
It will start at 11:05 Bulgarian time and will last 19 laps, in which Nikola Tsolov will try to reach the points zone.
