The main impact in Bulgaria today is the police checks against vote buying and the creation of fear. However, in order to eradicate this practice, the politicians who implement it must change. A change in the political system is also necessary. Traditionally, the MRF is associated with vote buying, especially in the Roma neighborhoods. GERB also had well-established channels for this. Smaller and newer parties can hardly afford such practices, because they need serious financial resources and participation in power to provide them. „I believe that this is one of the best guidelines of the Ministry of Interior and it is aimed categorically at ending this non-European practice in elections - buying votes. Politicians who practice this ancient craft must be swept out of the political system“, he added.
