Vucic in Japan: Serbia is a bridge between East and West - 1

During the official ceremony for the presentation of the National Day of Serbia in Osaka, within the framework of the EXPO 2025 world exhibition, President Aleksandar Vucic said that Serbia is a “bridge between East and West“, just as the country's pavilion symbolizes the connection between two world exhibitions EXPO 2025 in Osaka and EXPO 2027 in Belgrade, Serbian national television RTS reported, BTA reports.

Vucic, who is on an official visit to Japan, called on his compatriots to be disciplined like the Japanese. He made his statement on the occasion of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag.

“We will have to be disciplined like the Japanese. First, let's finish everything for EXPO 2027, build all the facilities. The construction permit for the stadium has finally been received and I believe that with more responsibility and commitment, as well as the question of what we can do for our country, not what it can do for us, we will achieve what the Japanese have here in Osaka“, Vucic said.

He stressed that the specialized exhibition EXPO 2027 is “a huge opportunity“ for Serbia to present itself to the world in the best possible way in the field of modern technologies, the development of artificial intelligence and all key areas for the future of the country.

“I would like to congratulate the citizens on the national holiday - the Day of Unity, Freedom and the Serbian Flag and to say how important it is in an era of global turmoil to preserve the peace, freedom and unity of our people, both in the country, in the region and around the world. Today, here in Japan, we will celebrate the holiday solemnly in the main pavilion of EXPO 2027 together with State Minister Ito Yoshimoto“, added Vučić.

As part of his visit, the President of Serbia will meet with Japanese Emperor Naruhito and Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. The visit will conclude with a presentation of Serbia's investment potential, which will also include representatives of major Japanese companies.

This is Aleksandar Vučić's first official visit to Japan. He will remain in the country until September 17.
