The EU is considering trade measures that will be aimed at imports of Russian oil, which Hungary and Slovakia still buy. Bloomberg reported this from its own sources, writes Ukrainform, quoted by FOCUS.
The bloc is considering the issue of imports of Russian oil through the "Druzhba" pipeline, which supplies oil to Hungary and Slovakia.
These plans do not apply to proposals for a new package of sanctions that the EU presented on Friday. The proposed restrictions include a ban on Russian liquefied natural gas and will first apply to short-term contracts six months after entry into force, and then to long-term agreements from January 1, 2027.
EU ambassadors were briefed on the proposed measures on Friday.
Unlike sanctions, which require the support of all member states, trade measures such as tariffs only need the support of a majority of capitals.
