Kazakhstan's President Kassam-Jomart Tokayev said that the visit of his Italian counterpart Sergio Mattarella to Astana will give a strong impetus to further strengthening bilateral cooperation. According to him, the visit confirms special ties of friendship and partnership between Italy and Kazakhstan, the Kazakh news agency Kazinform reported, BTA reports.
„Mr. President, I am very glad to welcome you as our guest. This is your first official visit to Kazakhstan and it is extremely important, because it will undoubtedly open a new chapter in our relations. Kazakhstan and Italy cooperate closely, we have warm feelings for your country. Bilateral trade is developing, we are connected by stable economic contacts. We are achieving high results in various areas. As President, I am ready to make a personal contribution to strengthening our relations“, said President Tokayev.
Mattarella followed his speech with gratitude for the hospitality and stressed the importance of further developing bilateral relations:
“I am glad to be here and to meet with you after your visit to Rome last January. As you noted, excellent relations have been established between us, which are constantly strengthening and becoming more intense and fruitful. With each passing year, our economic, trade and cultural cooperation is progressing. We are observing the strengthening of interaction between our universities. Thank you for your friendship.“
The two leaders exchanged views on current issues of bilateral relations, as well as on regional and international topics. President Tokayev used the occasion to convey greetings and best wishes to Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
