Two more F-16 fighter jets for the Slovak Armed Forces arrived last night at the Kuhinja military airbase in Bratislava County, the national news agency TASR reported, citing the Ministry of Defense. Thus, the country now has seven of a total of 14 ordered combat aircraft at its disposal, BTA reports.
According to the ministry, the latest delivery includes a single-seat F-16 Block 70 and a two-seat model.
“An administrative and technical acceptance procedure is pending, after which the aircraft will be included in the training process“, the ministry specifies.
Slovakia signed the contract for 14 US-made F-16 C/D Block 70 fighter jets at the end of 2018. However, deliveries were delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The first aircraft was received last summer.
