Comprehensive ceasefire! The authorities in Damascus and the Syrian Kurds have agreed to a complete disarmament - 1

The government in Damascus has announced a comprehensive ceasefire with the Kurds for the entire territory of Syria, Agence France-Presse reported, quoted by BTA. The ceasefire was agreed at a meeting today between Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa and Kurdish leader Mazloum Abdi, in the presence of American envoys. The talks followed yesterday's clashes between government forces and Kurds in Aleppo, which claimed the lives of two people.

Earlier, Syrian Defense Minister Murhaf Abu Kasra announced that he had met with Mazloum Abdi and they had agreed on a comprehensive ceasefire in all military directions and points in northern and northeastern Syria, which takes effect immediately.

On Monday evening, clashes broke out in Aleppo between two predominantly Kurdish neighborhoods and areas controlled by government forces, which ended at dawn with a local ceasefire.

These two neighborhoods are controlled by local Kurdish units affiliated with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The SDF denied attacking government forces and accused the latter of besieging Kurdish neighborhoods and attempting to enter with tanks.

In recent months, sporadic fighting has broken out in other areas of northern Syria between Kurdish forces on the one hand and government units or pro-Turkish groups on the other.

In March, Damascus and the SDF signed an agreement to integrate the Kurds into state institutions. However, significant differences between the two sides have delayed the implementation of this agreement.

According to sources cited by AFP, Ahmed al-Sharaa and Mazloum Abdi discussed "mechanisms for integrating the SDF into the Syrian army" today. The US commander in the Middle East, Admiral Brad Cooper, and the US envoy Tom Barrack attended the meeting as mediators.
