New York State Attorney General Letitia James called the fraud charges against her baseless.
She accused US President Donald Trump of seeking revenge at all costs, American media reported.
„The president's public statements clearly show that his only goal is political revenge at all costs. The president's actions constitute a serious violation of our constitutional order,“ she complained.
James believes that leaders of both the Democratic and Republican parties must “speak out against this blatant perversion of the US legal system“.
The attorney general added that the case she filed against Donald Trump in 2022 is based on facts and evidence, not politics.
In May of this year, the US Department of Justice launched an investigation into real estate transactions involving the New York attorney general, who has filed lawsuits against both Trump administrations.
It was previously reported that US officials would be tested for loyalty to Trump and willingness to follow his policies. According to The Wall Street Journal, testing was supposed to begin on October 1, 2025.
