The Commander of the United States Armed Forces in the Middle East, Admiral Brad Cooper, said today that he visited the Gaza Strip to discuss measures to stabilize the situation, emphasizing that no US troops will be deployed to the Palestinian enclave. Admiral Cooper specified that he had just returned from a visit to Gaza, where he discussed the creation of a “civil-military coordination center“, which will be managed by the US Central Command (CENTCOM) and will aim to “support the stabilization of the conflict“.
Meanwhile, a senior US official said on Thursday that 200 US military personnel would be mobilized to “observe“ and “control“ the implementation of the agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Islamist movement “Hamas“ on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
