Russia has again struck the Ukrainian energy network, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on the social network "Facebook", quoted by the Ukrainian news agency Ukrinform, BTA reported.
The world can deprive Moscow of the opportunity to strike power plants, power lines and gas facilities. To this end, however, the skies over Ukraine must be closed, Zelensky stressed.
The Ukrainian president also said that Russia's night strikes against cities and infrastructure in Ukraine continue, with energy facilities being the main target. Zelensky explained that Russia attacked Ukraine with 96 drones that night and that 57 people were injured when a hospital in Kharkiv was shelled with aerial bombs. The Ukrainian leader described the shelling of the hospital as a "purely terrorist and cynical attack on a place where human lives are saved".
"The energy infrastructure in the region was also affected. In Kirovohrad region, damage was caused to civilian infrastructure, including railway facilities in two settlements. In Sumy region, strikes were carried out on energy facilities and one enterprise. Donetsk region was also attacked. Where necessary, relevant services are working and restoration efforts are ongoing. "I thank everyone who is involved in them," Zelensky said.
"Every day and every night, Russia is attacking power plants and power lines, our gas facilities are also under attack," Zelensky said, calling for Ukraine to be provided with more air defense systems.
"Ukraine needs sufficient air defense capabilities to protect its skies from missiles, drones and cruise missiles so that Russia's air terror becomes meaningless. The world must force Moscow to sit at the table for real negotiations. Only peace through force can bring results," Zelensky stressed, expressing gratitude to all who are helping his country.
A UN convoy carrying humanitarian aid was targeted by a Russian strike in the Kherson region in southern Ukraine today, Ukrainian regional governor Oleksandr Prokudin said, quoted by Agence France-Presse. He described it as a miracle that no one was injured in the attack.
A convoy of four white vehicles with UN insignia carrying tons of aid came under Russian drone and artillery attack in the Bilozerka area. One of the vehicles was set on fire and another was seriously damaged.
