The Iranian judiciary has issued long prison sentences to two French citizens accused of espionage in favor of France and Israel, reports Agence France-Presse, citing an Iranian state media specializing in judicial matters, BTA reports.
“The first-instance verdicts in the case against the two French citizens arrested on March 9, 2023 and accused of espionage have already been pronounced“, the Iranian Mizan news agency reported. One was sentenced to 6 years in prison and the other to 10 years, without giving their names.
AFP recalls that the detention of French citizens Cecile Kohler and Jacques Parry was officially announced earlier, noting that their arrest took place in May 2022.
