A protest by thousands of American citizens against the policies of the Donald Trump administration is taking place across the country today, including in one of the largest cities in the United States - New York, reports The Independent, quoted by FOCUS.
Protesters carrying banners gathered in Times Square and marched in a column along one of the city's main thoroughfares. They held signs with the inscriptions “I am for freedom of speech“, “Fuck Trump“, “Trump must go“ and “No to corruption“. Many of them carried American flags.
On October 18, massive protests under the slogan “No Kings“ are taking place across the country. Organizers plan to hold at least 2,600 demonstrations across the United States that day, making it “the largest peaceful protest in modern American history“.
“The Trump administration is sending masked agents onto our streets, terrorizing our communities. They are harassing immigrant families, arresting and detaining people without warrants. They are threatening to interfere in elections and undermining health care, the environment and education. The president believes he has absolute power, but there are no kings in America and we will not give up in the fight against chaos, corruption and brutality,“ organizers said, outlining the reasons for the protests.
Previous “No Kings“ protests took place on June 14, Trump's birthday and the day of the military parade in Washington. At least 2,100 protests took place in American cities and towns, attracting an estimated 5 million people.
