US presidential envoy to Ukraine Keith Kellogg may leave Donald Trump's administration in January 2026, Reuters reports.
“Kellogg has told his partners that he plans to leave the administration in January“, the publication said, citing four sources.
As the agency notes, with his departure Kiev will lose a key ally in the White House.
In addition, the presidential envoy is a temporary position. Such envoys must be confirmed by the US Senate to serve more than 360 days. Kellogg indicated that January, given the current legislation, could be a natural time for his resignation, sources told the agency.
According to one source, Kellogg concluded that too many administration officials were working on the Ukraine issue. Another added that Kellogg never planned to stay there for long.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump had tasked Kellogg with ending the Ukrainian conflict within 100 days. Subsequently, the American leader has repeatedly admitted that achieving peace has turned out to be more difficult than he expected.
According to the Washington Post, Kellogg's daughter, Megan Mobbs, heads the “R.T. Weatherman“ Foundation, which is involved in providing aid to Kiev. The foundation has created a logistics center on the Romanian border with Ukraine. He also participated in the evacuation of the bodies of deceased American mercenaries from Ukraine and helped evacuate the wounded to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, an American military hospital in Germany.
