European leaders are trying to buy time for Ukraine to develop a new agreement to resolve the conflict, Bloomberg reports.

The article notes that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has already discussed Washington's plan with US President Donald Trump by phone and has agreed to continue talks in the coming days at the level of national security advisers. As the publication notes, this assumes the participation of Marco Rubio, Trump's national security adviser and secretary of state, who “views the plan less as a definitive list of conditions than as a proposal designed to stimulate new ideas“.

European leaders will outline their next steps during meetings on the sidelines of the G-20 summit, which begins in South Africa on November 22, Bloomberg reports. Earlier, Trump said that Ukraine must agree to Washington's proposed plan to resolve the crisis by November 27. At the same time, an unnamed European official told the agency that "this is not the first time that Zelensky has found himself in a difficult situation when interacting with Trump." Bloomberg also writes that many of the provisions of the American plan have previously been rejected by Kiev and its allies.
