Slovak President Pellegrini welcomes Trump's peace plan for Ukraine - 1

Slovak President Peter Pellegrini assessed US President Donald Trump's proposal to end the war in Ukraine as a first but significant step in the right direction, the Slovak news agency TASR reported, BTA reports.

“Many say that this is the most realistic plan so far. Of course, there is still a lot of work to do, but this is a big step in the right direction“, Pellegrini said in an article in “Ex“. He stressed that the most important task now is to achieve a real agreement between Ukraine and Russia, supported by the US, EU, NATO and international partners.

The president welcomed the efforts of the US president and his team, who are working tirelessly to achieve peace. The 28-point plan, presented in the media this week, was described by him as a “very strong and serious first step“.

According to the published version of the plan, Russia demands that Ukraine hand over territories in Donbas, limit the size of its armed forces to a maximum of 600,000 people and commit to never joining NATO.

Yesterday, talks were held in Geneva between representatives of the United States, Ukraine and European countries. US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that significant progress had been made, with the main document and the list of controversial issues greatly narrowed. Among the remaining unresolved issues are the future role of the EU and NATO, as well as the question of security guarantees.
