American President Donald Trump launched sharp attacks on the newspaper “The New York Times“, which he once again called “the enemy of the people“, as well as on a journalist from the publication, after the media published an article commenting on his age and public activity, reported Agence France-Presse.

In a post on the social network “Truth Social“, 79-year-old Trump described the newspaper as “vulgar and cheap“, and called journalist Katie Rogers “second-rate“ and insulted her personally. The president expressed indignation at the article, which indicated that he was probably not that energetic, insisting that the facts showed exactly on the contrary.

For its part, the “New York Times“ reacted sharply to the attacks, condemning the slander and personal insults in a post on the social network “Ex“. The publication stated that its journalists would not succumb to “intimidation tactics“, and defended Katie Rogers as a professional who helps the public understand the work of power.

An analysis by Rogers indicates that between January 20 and November 25, the number of Trump's public appearances decreased by 39% compared to the same period of his first term (2017-2021). According to the newspaper, the president starts his working days later, travels less domestically and more abroad.

Donald Trump, who is the oldest president in US history when he took office, often emphasizes his vitality, to distinguish himself from his predecessor Joe Biden, whose health deteriorated towards the end of his term and who rarely spoke to the media.

At the same time, questions have arisen about the president's health after he was seen with a bruised hand and swollen ankles, as well as after he appeared to briefly doze off during an event in the Oval Office. However, his last medical check-up in October showed that he was in "excellent" health.

The "New York Times" remains a frequent target of Trump's attacks on the media, which he describes as hostile, often combining his criticism with insults and threats of legal action.
