An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.6 on the Richter scale was registered near Simelue Island in Indonesia, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center reported, quoted by TASS, reports BTA.
The epicenter of the earthquake was located about 46 kilometers south of the city of Sinabung with a population of about 15,000 people. The hypocenter was at a depth of 25 kilometers.
There is currently no information about damage or injuries. No tsunami threat has been announced.
