Within the framework of its chairmanship of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Russia intends to begin joint preparation of a new anti-terrorist strategy of the military bloc. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin during a meeting of the CSTO Collective Security Council in an expanded format, quoted by TASS, BTA reports.
„Within the framework of our chairmanship, we plan to begin joint preparation of a new CSTO anti-terrorist strategy. We will strive to do everything necessary to further resolutely counter extremism,“ said Putin.
The Russian president added that Moscow, together with its partners in the organization, will continue to work to detect and eliminate international terrorist groups and their cells, as well as to cut off the channels for their financing.
Among the most important priorities in the organization's activities, the Russian leader also highlighted information security. “The Russian side is ready for close cooperation with its allies to prevent the spread of radical ideas among youth. We consider it necessary to take additional measures to protect the common information space from such threats,“ said Putin.
He also noted that Russia will make every effort to further strengthen cooperation in the fight against drug trafficking. “We will continue to carry out operation “Channel“ "to combat drugs, involving interested international actors," the Russian president summed up.
