Russia wants to make progress on the path to peace with Ukraine, although it considers Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky illegitimate, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, quoted by Reuters, BTA reports.
Russian President Vladimir Putin argued his position by claiming that Zelensky's term has expired.
Ukraine, for its part, announced that it cannot organize elections because the country is under martial law while defending itself against a Russian invasion.
