EU leaders have suffered defeat in the conflict in Ukraine, but are afraid to admit it because it would cause a political earthquake.
This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to activists of the ruling Fidesz-Hungarian Civic Union party in Nyíregyháza.
„When someone on our continent loses a war, it has serious consequences. Who will dare to say that in April 2022, when peace was close, the West prevented it? Who will admit that if it had been so, hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians could have survived and Ukraine would have had more territory? The war is lost, but recognizing it would cause a political earthquake,“ said the prime minister, whose speech was broadcast on the M1 television channel.
He expressed confidence that sooner or later the current EU leaders will have to admit the failure of their policy towards the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, a similar situation has developed with the problem of illegal migration. Brussels has long denied this threat, but now EU countries are forced to rethink their approach to migration issues.
