During his last trip to a number of European countries, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky did not have the opportunity to give a traditional press conference. His trip lasted only 36 hours, during which he was in London, Brussels, the Vatican and Rome, the Associated Press recalls, BTA reported.
That is why Zelensky chose an unusual format for talking to journalists. While flying from London to Brussels, he answered journalistic questions asked by Ukrainian and international journalists, playing audio recordings of the answers on WhatsApp.
This way of communication was extremely rare for a world leader. In these audio recordings, he assured that Ukraine would not make territorial concessions to Russia, that the law, the constitution, and morality itself do not allow such concessions to be made.
Yesterday, Zelensky asked journalists if they liked the new format of communication with them and told them that if they approved of it and it was beneficial to them, this way of communicating with them could continue when such an opportunity arose.
By the evening, Zelensky had sent journalists more audio recordings with answers to their questions. In them, he told them how the negotiations to end the war were progressing, referring to the talks being held between Ukraine's Western allies.
When the war in Ukraine began, Zelensky tried to calm the public with a statement that appeared to be in the form of a video shot on a mobile phone. He then began making evening video addresses to his compatriots and repeatedly delivered speeches to the parliaments of Western countries via videoconference, thus participating in summits and award ceremonies.
