Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he supports convening a new meeting with European allies after talks between a Ukrainian delegation and US representatives in Miami, DPA reported. This comes against the backdrop of ongoing diplomatic efforts to end Russia's war against Ukraine, BTA reported.
“There is a general feeling that after the work of our diplomatic team in the United States, we now need to hold consultations with European partners in a broader format“, Zelensky wrote in "Ex" after a phone call with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.
The Ukrainian delegation in Florida is working with American negotiators and progress is fast, Zelensky wrote. He described the talks as constructive, but did not provide details and thanked Norway for its support.
Following talks between representatives of the United States, Europe and Ukraine in Berlin last Sunday and on Monday, the Florida talks for a peace settlement entered a new phase over the weekend. American negotiators wanted to inform Russian representatives of the results of the meetings in Berlin. In his first statement after the talks, Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev said they had been constructive. Ukrainian and European representatives were also expected to be in Florida.
Zelensky accuses Russia of war crimes. The Ukrainian president wrote that much depends on whether Russia really wants to end the war, but on this issue Moscow is sending only negative signals. He accused Russia of attacks on the front line, war crimes in border areas and strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure. According to him, in just one week, Russian forces have used nearly 1,300 combat drones, about 1,200 glide bombs and 9 cruise and other missiles against Ukraine.
