The Israeli army announced this morning that it had killed two Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, DPA reported, citing a statement from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The statement stated that "two terrorists" crossed the so-called Yellow Line in southern Gaza and approached Israeli soldiers. The two Palestinians posed an "imminent threat" and were "eliminated", the text also says.
Israeli forces withdrew behind the Yellow Line in the Gaza Strip, in accordance with the ceasefire agreement between Israel and "Hamas" that came into effect on October 10. The line, marked by yellow concrete elements and signs, represents a new division of the Gaza Strip, with Israel controlling just over half of the Palestinian territory.
Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir recently declared the yellow line a "new border with the Gaza Strip".
Despite the announced ceasefire, sporadic deadly incidents continue to occur in the Palestinian territory.
