The Turkish Intelligence (MIT) has captured a terrorist from the "Islamic State" (DAESH) who was preparing attacks on New Year's Eve, Turkish media reported, quoted by BTA.
The terrorist named Ibrahim Burtakucin was captured as a result of a joint operation by the MIT and the General Directorate of Security in the city of Malatya, southeastern Turkey, according to Turkish state television "TRT Haber".
The information, which refers to data provided by Turkish intelligence, states that the terrorist acted in Turkey on behalf of the "Islamic State". He visited conflict zones. He was connected with people from the “Islamic State“, with whom they were preparing attacks, including suicide attacks, in Turkey on behalf of the terrorist organization.
During the operation of the intelligence service together with the security teams at the address in the city of Malatya, where the terrorist was hiding, digital propaganda materials of the “Islamic State“ and substances used in attacks were found, which were seized.
“As a result of the joint operation, the plans of the “Islamic State“ for attacks in Turkey were thwarted, and the organization's attempts to recruit members for subversive activities were revealed,“ Haberler said.
Yesterday, the Turkish authorities detained another 115 suspected members of the “Islamic State“, who are alleged to have planned attacks during the Christmas and New Year holidays in the country.
