A 38-year-old man was arrested in Japan on Monday after carrying out an attack at a tire factory in central Japan. Eight people were stabbed and seven others were injured by a substance believed to be bleach, officials said, quoted by the Associated Press, BTA reports.
The incident occurred at a Yokohama Rubber Company factory in Mishima city, Shizuoka Prefecture, west of Tokyo. The local fire department “Fujisan Nanto“ reported that all eight people stabbed were transported to hospital.
According to the service, five of the injured are in serious condition, and no further details about their health conditions have been reported at this time.
Shizuoka prefecture police confirmed the arrest of the suspect on suspicion of attempted murder, without providing further information on the case.
In addition to the knife wounds, seven more people were injured after a chemical substance, believed to be bleach, was thrown at them during the attack, the fire department added.
