US Congress has called former EU Commissioner Peter Mandelson to testify in the Epstein case - 1

Peter Mandelson, the former British ambassador to the US, has been called to testify before the US Congress about his links to paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, Sky News reports.

Suhas Subramanyam and Robert Garcia, two members of the House of Representatives from the Democratic Party, have sent a letter to the former British ambassador asking him to answer questions from the House Oversight Committee as part of the ongoing investigation into Epstein.

They write: "Although you are no longer the British ambassador to the United States and have retired from the House of Lords, it is clear that you have extensive social and business ties to Jeffrey Epstein and "You have important information relevant to our investigation into Epstein's activities.

Given the appalling allegations of Epstein's conduct, we ask that you come forward for an interview with staff of the Committee into the crimes of Jeffrey Epstein and his associates."

The two point out that Mandelson appears repeatedly in the 3.5 million files relating to Epstein that have been released by the US.

Mandelson was ambassador to the US between February and September last year before being dismissed by British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

The Prime Minister dismissed him because his relationship with Epstein differed "significantly" from what the Labour MP told the government when he was questioned.

Mandelson has repeatedly denied all the allegations. But he has previously apologized for maintaining his relationship with Epstein, which he admits went on for too long.

The two American officials last year made a similar request to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, then a prince.
