Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjarto called Volodymyr Zelensky's remarks about Prime Minister Viktor Orban "rude" and said that Ukraine will not receive Hungarian funds to continue the war under any circumstances.
In a speech at the Munich Security Conference, Zelensky said that Orban is "growing up" instead of building up his army to defend against Russia. Orban responded by warning in an interview that Ukraine will not join the European Union.
Szijjarto also felt it necessary to respond to Zelensky's latest attack, noting that he "completely misunderstands the situation". "Ukraine is defending itself, not us," the minister wrote on Facebook, recalling that Russia did not attack Europe and therefore Hungary does not want to be drawn into this conflict.
“It is useless to make arrogant, rude remarks about Viktor Orbán, it is useless to ally with Brussels, it is useless to support the [opposition] party “Tisa“. We will not give the money to the Hungarian people, we will not allow ourselves to be drawn into war, we will not allow Hungarian youth to be taken to the Ukrainian front,“ Szijjártó declared.
