Ukrainian attacks cut power in Russia's Bryansk region - 1

Ukrainian drone attacks have caused partial power and heating outages in Russia's western Bryansk region, local authorities said yesterday, describing the strikes as some of the worst since the start of the war, DPA reported, quoted by BTA.

The region's governor, Alexander Bogomaz, wrote on "Telegram" that strikes on energy infrastructure had left five municipalities and parts of the city of Bryansk without electricity and heating.

He added that the drone attacks lasted more than 12 hours and that more than 170 Ukrainian drones had been shot down.

Russia has repeatedly launched missile and drone strikes on Ukraine's energy grid since the start of its full-scale invasion in 2022. In response, the Ukrainian The army has stepped up its drone attacks on Russian territory, often targeting oil and gas facilities.

Bryansk Oblast is located near the Ukrainian border and is among the Russian regions hardest hit by Ukrainian shelling and drone strikes, DPA reports.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the European Union had not yet imposed sanctions on Russian nuclear energy and people working at the state-owned company ''Rosatom''.

He is convinced that these restrictions would have some effect. Zelensky said this in an interview with Politico at the Munich Security Conference.

Zelensky noted that the Europeans have done a lot, but have not yet imposed sanctions against Russian nuclear energy, in particular against ''Rosatom''.

"The Europeans have not yet imposed sanctions against Russian nuclear energy, against ''Rosatom'', against people, against their relatives, against their children who live in Europe, who live in the United States, who study at European universities, who have real estate in the United States... Go back to Russia. Go home. You do not respect anyone in the United States, you do not respect the rules, you do not respect democracy, you do not respect Ukraine, Europe, etc.“, the president emphasized.
