A policeman was killed and 15 people were injured in explosions in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv overnight, the city's mayor, Andriy Sadovy, said. He called the incident a "terrorist attack".
„Medics are providing all necessary assistance. Law enforcement agencies and all services are working. "We ask you to remain calm and trust only official information," he wrote on Telegram.
He specified that some of the injured were in serious condition and expressed condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
The National Police of Ukraine also reported that "law enforcement officers were killed and injured."
According to UNIAN, police officers responded to a report of a break-in at a store near the Magnus shopping center. An explosion was heard when the first team arrived, and a second explosion occurred after reinforcements arrived. According to the agency, a National Guard serviceman was also injured.
No airstrikes were issued during the explosions in Lviv and the surrounding region.
