Moscow's Domodedovo and Zhukovsky airports imposed restrictions on arrival and departure of flights for the second time in a day, Rosaviatsia reports.
“The restrictions are necessary to ensure flight safety“, they added.
Shortly before, similar measures were imposed in Vnukovo and Sheremetyevo. This is the second time on February 22 that all airports in the capital's air hub have suspended arrival and departure of flights. The first time the measures were in force was from 15:25 to 16:40 Moscow time.
Forty minutes later, temporary restrictions were imposed on the airspace in the Vnukovo, Domodedovo and Sheremetyevo areas, allowing them to receive and send flights in coordination with the relevant authorities. Less than an hour later, flights were again restricted at these airports.
The restrictions are being introduced against the backdrop of reports from Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin that drone attacks have been repelled. So far, the number of drones shot down on the approaches to the capital has already reached 21 for the day.
