Relations between Hungary and Ukraine have reached a critical point, but Budapest will not succumb to blackmail and threats from Kiev. This was announced today by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban during his speech at the opening of the spring session of the national parliament, Focus reports.
He noted that the Ukrainian leadership has threatened Hungary's energy security by interrupting the supply of Russian oil through the ''Druzhba'' pipeline and is trying to interfere in the upcoming parliamentary elections in the country.
''Diplomatic relations between Hungary and Ukraine have already reached a critical point'', the prime minister said.
He believes that Kiev is working with Brussels to create a state of emergency and force a change of government in Hungary.
''They are doing this because they know that as long as there is a government here focused on national interests, they will not be able to implement their plans. They will not be able to disconnect us from Russian energy supplies and they will not force us to agree to Ukraine's accession to the EU. We will not finance Ukraine and we say '''' of war“, Orban emphasizes.
Hungary will oppose any EU plans aimed at prolonging the military conflict in Ukraine, including the deployment of European soldiers. This was stated earlier today by Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó during the meeting of EU foreign ministers in Brussels, TASS agency reports.
He noted that the discussions at today's meeting have once again demonstrated the ''military fanaticism'' of EU leaders.
''From today's meeting, four conclusions can be drawn: first, the Europeans are preparing for a long war; they are ready to wage a long war. Second, they want to send their soldiers to Ukraine as soon as possible. Third, they want to provide Ukraine with even more money than it has been allocated so far, and even more than it was originally planned to receive. And fourth, they talk about Ukraine's membership in the European Union as if it were inevitable, the foreign minister said, speaking to Hungarian journalists in the Belgian capital.
Szijjártó noted that Hungary rejects the EU's demands on all four points.
'We will make every effort every day to ensure that Hungary does not participate in the war,' the minister stressed. He confirmed that the Hungarian government does not intend to finance Ukraine and will not allow the sending of troops there.
