Russian authorities have set a deadline for blocking the messaging app "Telegram", which could happen in early April, Reuters reported, citing RBC.
"Telegram" is a popular app for public and private communication in Russia, but authorities believe it allows it to be used as a platform for the distribution of illegal and extremist content.
The platform denies the accusations, saying Russia is trying to restrict it to force people to switch to a new state-backed rival app called "MAX".
RBC reported that by April "Telegram" will only be available on the front lines in Ukraine. Military sources, war correspondents and politicians said that Russian servicemen rely heavily on it, not only for communication with their loved ones, but also for operational activities.
