Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Europe is completely unprepared for a new migration crisis, but according to him, Hungary knows how to prevent migrants from entering the country, the MTI agency reported, quoted by BTA.
Orban pointed out that the national migration management system, introduced in 2015, is based on the principle of allowing entry only to people who have received prior permission.
"In the West, they let them in and then they stay in these countries, regardless of the decision on their residence application," the Hungarian prime minister said.
In his words, the Hungarian model is "under attack", accusing the European Union institutions of trying to force Budapest to accept what he described as "the wrong migration policy of Western Europe".
Orban stressed that the government's main priority is the country's security. According to him, strict control over migration is necessary to prevent terrorist attacks and an increase in crime.
"And I definitely don't want the number of migrants to increase to such an extent that they take away our country," he added.
