US President Donald Trump admitted he overreacted when it came to imposing additional tariffs on China.
When he learned that US tariffs on China had reached 145%, he called it "crazy".
"I got a little carried away, so I cut them to 100% and then even lower", he said at an investment forum in Miami.
The US leader believes the US currently has "excellent business relations with China", noting his "great respect" to Chinese President Xi Jinping.
China deserves universal respect, regardless of personal feelings, he said.
“Look at China, how well they do, how well they produce,“ he said.
“You have to respect what they do. Whether you like them or not, you have to respect them.“
The White House confirmed his plans to visit China in May and said he has a good relationship with the Chinese president.
