The US embassy logistics center in Iraq, located near Baghdad International Airport, and the US Consulate General in Erbil (Iraqi Kurdistan) were attacked, Shafaq News reported.
According to the news agency, the drone that attacked the consulate was successfully shot down and no damage was reported. Several more drones were intercepted in the past few hours near Baghdad Airport. The news agency has not yet provided information on the consequences of the attacks.
An Indian national working in Kuwait was killed in an Iranian strike on an office building located on the grounds of a local power plant, Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said.
The president of the American University of Beirut (AUB), Fadlo Khoury, announced a temporary transition to distance learning from March 30 due to Iran's threat to strike American research and education centers in the region.
“For security reasons, we will be operating entirely online for several days, except for essential staff,“ Khoury said. “This precautionary measure was taken after a warning from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of possible attacks on American universities throughout the Middle East.“
AUB is considered one of the most prestigious educational institutions in the Middle East; it was founded in 1866. It is located next to the American Hospital in downtown Beirut.
The Lebanese American University also announced a temporary shift to online learning.
On March 29, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) threatened to strike American universities in the Middle East after a US-Israeli airstrike severely damaged two Iranian universities.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi called the bombings “a sign of desperation“.
