Moscow: The danger of renewed military action around Iran has not diminished at all - 1

The danger of renewed military action around Iran has not diminished; for now, we can conclude that the negotiations between Washington and Tehran have not yielded any results.

This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry Peskov in an interview with "Vesti", quoted by "Interfax".

"On the other hand, the danger of renewed military action has not diminished; "For now, we can conclude that the negotiations have ended without results," Peskov said.

Commenting on the US promises to block the Strait of Hormuz, the Kremlin spokesman said that US President Donald Trump has in effect promised a blockade of the Iranian coast.

What this means and what it will lead to - we still do not understand, he said.

We recall that earlier Russia announced that it was ready to accept Iran's highly enriched uranium as part of a future peace agreement with the United States.

The proposal was made by Russian President Vladimir Putin after he spoke with his Iranian counterpart Massoud Pezeshkian to offer him to mediate to bring stability and peace to the Middle East, following the failed talks in Islamabad.

Peskov noted that the proposal is still valid. He said Moscow disagreed with Trump's idea of blocking the Strait of Hormuz, a key waterway that has been virtually closed since the start of the US-Israeli war against Iran in late February.

On April 12, the US president blamed Iran for the failed talks. He noted that Tehran was not ready to give up its "nuclear ambitions" and did not want to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, as it had initially promised. After the failed talks, Trump ordered a naval blockade of the Strait of Hormuz.

Iran, for its part, attributed the failure of the talks to US demands.
