Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti called on Serbs in Kosovo to participate in the upcoming population census, which will start tomorrow and last six weeks, Serbian national TV RTS reported, quoted by BTA.
Albin Kurti told the media in the northern part of the ethnically divided city of Mitrovica in Northern Kosovo that he once again calls on all Serbian citizens in the country, representatives of the Serbian community, who live not only in the northern part of Mitrovica, but everywhere in Kosovo, to are registered as massively as possible.
"When we make our plans for the implementation of subsidies and investments, for work and education, for the health of citizens, we must have as a mirror the state of the population, scanned as best as possible,", Kurti added.
In Mitrovica, Kurti spoke with the chairman of the municipality, Erden Atić, and before that he visited the predominantly Serb towns of Leposavich and Zubin Potok. Kurti stated that the government in Pristina is against the division of society and that it is for equality.
"Our institutions must cultivate equality in the treatment of citizens, as well as equal opportunities for access to the institutions of the system,", said the Kosovo Prime Minister.
"All tendencies to destabilize Kosovo come from across the border," Kurti said.
When asked if he expected an agreement on the dinar issue at today's round of dialogue in Brussels, Kurti said his government had nothing against the dinar and that Belgrade could continue to help citizens, but that it would not allow the distribution of dinars in cash. in Kosovo.
"We want to stop smuggling and any financing of terrorism, because when you finance terrorism, you are also a terrorist," Kurti said.
He indicated that he has nothing against doctors and teachers in Northern Kosovo receiving salaries from Serbia.
"But it seems that the main concern of official Belgrade is that some other people who are neither doctors nor teachers will not be able to receive cash as before. So we want a transparent system, legalization of all financial transactions, of course those that are legal," Kurti said.
In an unannounced nearly day-long visit yesterday to Serb-dominated northern Kosovo, Kurti was accompanied by Interior Minister Djelal Svechlja and Local Government Minister Elbert Krasnici. Kurti was accompanied by dozens of armed policemen in black jeeps, RTS notes.
