Ecuador's former vice president Jorge Glass was hospitalized earlier this week after attempting to commit suicide in a maximum security prison in Guayaquil, the country's former president Rafael Correa said today on the social network " Ex" reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
This information was also confirmed by Glass's lawyer - Sonia Vera. She added that the currently detained former vice president has announced a hunger strike.
Glass, who has already been convicted of corruption twice and now faces new charges, was arrested on Friday in a spectacular police raid at the Mexican embassy in Quito, where he had been hiding since December, according to Reuters.
