Sergey Lavrov: We will not stop strikes in Ukraine if negotiations begin - 1

In case of new negotiations on Ukraine, Russia will not make any pauses in military actions on time of the negotiation process. This is what Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with the radio stations "Sputnik", "Speaking Moscow". and "Komsomolskaya Pravda", quoted by TASS.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry also stressed that he has no confidence in the Ukrainian authorities. "At the current stage, of course, we always repeat this - both the president (of Russia Vladimir Putin), and your obedient servant (Lavrov is referring to himself - ed.), and (press secretary of the Russian president Dmitry) Peskov, when they ask us if we are ready for negotiations, firstly, he (Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy) has banned negotiations for himself," Lavrov noted. "Secondly, we, of course, have no faith in them."

He stated that Russia is ready for negotiations, but unlike the case in Istanbul, there will be no pauses in hostilities during the negotiations.

Lavrov pointed out that the realities on the ground have become different, "and significantly different". "And these realities must be taken into account, and by the realities on the ground I mean not only the dislocation and the contact line, but also the presence of changes in the Constitution, the presence of four new, old and primitive regions of ours. Everyone should understand this very well," he added.

"That they do not understand this, and not only do not understand, but are not even ready to look for any hypothetical compromises, that is also absolutely clear. Zelensky's formula, ultimatum, no alternative, etc., concludes the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

We recall that at the end of February, the Swiss authorities informed the UN that they intend to organize a high-level peace conference on Ukraine "by the summer".

Russia will not participate in the Ukraine conference in Switzerland, even if an official invitation is received. This was stated in March by the spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova, quoted by TASS.

The diplomat emphasized that "this forum will be dedicated to popularizing the ultimatum formula of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to her, the organizers are pretending that they are looking for a common denominator of the peace initiatives of different countries. According to Zakharova, the upcoming conference is a continuation of meetings in the Copenhagen format, which initially reached a dead end.

The Russian MFA spokesman pointed out that Switzerland can hardly serve as a platform for various peacekeeping efforts, as this implies a neutral status that Bern has lost.
