Dozens of tornadoes hit the central US yesterday, causing significant damage and injuring at least three people, US authorities said, cited by France press and BTA.
The US National Weather Service (NWS) has recorded more than 70 tornadoes across the country, mainly around Omaha, Nebraska and near Iowa.
Photos taken by so-called "storm chasers" and posted on social media, show huge black tornadoes sweeping everything in their path. The element has destroyed dozens of buildings, there are broken power lines, derailed trains.
Football from Elkhorn, on the outskirts of Omaha, shows destroyed houses, blown roofs and bare trees.
"Rescuers continue to check affected houses and provide assistance to all injured people," Omaha police reported on the "X" network.
Further south, near the town of Lincoln, a tornado struck an industrial hangar. About 70 people who were there when the building collapsed were evacuated, but three were injured, though not life-threatening, Lancaster County officials said at a press conference.
The National Weather Service, which issued multiple tornado warnings for several central US states yesterday, is forecasting tornadoes today, including as far as Texas.
