Delyan Peevski: The National Assembly never had the option of NATO troops joining the war in Ukraine - 1

It is unacceptable and irresponsible on the part of President Rumen Radev to scare people with frankly untrue threats about the participation of NATO troops to quell the war in Ukraine. Any attempt to instill fear in this way shows either a desire for unregulated interference in the course of the election campaign or the fulfillment of the goals of Russian propaganda and hybrid warfare, states the chairman of the DPS Delyan Peevski in his position, the party's press center reports.

I remind you that all such decisions under the Constitution can be taken only by the Bulgarian Parliament. I emphasize that we as parliamentarians have never faced such a choice, nor has anyone had such an intention, adds Peevski.

Our unprecedented support for Ukraine is the result of our firm conviction as Euro-Atlanticists and the consensus that we must steadfastly uphold these values by helping to end anti-human aggression. But, I firmly state that another option of support for Ukraine was never on the agenda, the DPS chairman also states in his position.

As soon as possible, diplomatic tools must be found to end the war in Ukraine, this will not be done with more weapons, it will not be done by sending troops from NATO member states, the head of state Rumen Radev told journalists yesterday during his visit to Hungary.

„The use of people's fears is punished by the people”, Peevski stated in his position, specifying that the warning was addressed to President Rumen Radev and added “because for Bulgarian citizens, the most important thing is security for them and their children here and now. And all of us are obliged to guarantee it with words and actions.
