Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson believes that the right of Ukraine's self-defense implies the right to strike at the territory of the Russian Federation.
„Ukraine was subjected to an unprovoked and illegal attack by Russia. According to international law, Ukraine has the right to self-defense through military action directed against enemy territory, subject to the laws of war. Sweden supports international law and Ukraine's right to self-defense”, newspaper Hallandsposten quoted Jonsson's response to a question about whether Ukraine could use weapons sent by Sweden to strike at targets on Russian territory
Earlier, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in an interview with The Economist magazine suggested that NATO allies should reconsider whether Ukraine should be able to strike with the help of Western weapons on military sites located on the internationally recognized territory of the Russian Federation.
