One person was killed and 24 were injured, some seriously, in an overnight street shooting in the US state of Ohio, reported the Associated Press, cited by BTA, referring to the police.
Police said shortly after midnight (local time) a report of gunshots was made in the city of Akron, where a large number of gunshot wounds were reported. Soon after, local hospitals told 911 dispatchers that people with gunshot wounds were arriving in their emergency rooms.
Capt. Michael Miller, the Akron police officer in charge of public information, said a total of 25 people were injured in the shooting, with one person dead. Some of the injured are in serious condition, while others have non-life-threatening injuries, he said.
No arrests have been reported. Police said the investigation is in its early stages and asked anyone with information to call authorities.
Local ABC television station WEWS-TV reported that a party was taking place in the area before the shooting began. Police officers found dozens of shell casings and a gun at the crime scene.
