Former US President Donald Trump said that if he wins the election , will introduce tariffs on the import of goods from countries, including China, that do not limit the flow of illegal immigrants from their territory to the United States, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Trump made the remarks at an event while answering a question from an audience member, but did not specify what level of tariffs he would impose in such a scenario.
Asked about ways he would curb the flow of migrants crossing into the US, Trump said: "We have tremendous economic power."
The former US president said that if a country like China doesn't help curb the flow of immigrants into the US, "we have these things called tariffs."
Trump added that he hoped he would not have to use tariffs to curb illegal immigration, but warned that if other countries did not help reduce it, then he could "impose tariffs on those countries" if be re-elected.
