The US coordinator in the fight against global corruption will visit Bulgaria

The American coordinator in the fight against global corruption Richard Nephew will visit Austria, Slovakia and Bulgaria as part of a tour from June 10 to 14, reported the press service of the US State Department, quoted by BTA.

From 10 to 12 June in the Austrian capital of Vienna, Coordinator Nephew will chair the 15th meeting of the Group for Verification of the Implementation of the United Nations Convention against Corruption and the joint meeting of the Working Group on Asset Recovery and the Working Group on International Cooperation (the two working groups are part of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption - note ed.). The two meetings will be the first of technical working groups within the American presidency of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention against Corruption, the press service of the State Department indicates. He will also meet with representatives of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, as well as representatives of other member states and civil society.

On June 13, coordinator Nephew will meet in the Slovak capital Bratislava with government representatives, civil society organizations and representatives of the private sector, adds the press service of the US State Department. There he will discuss efforts to fight corruption and explore opportunities for deepening cooperation.

On June 14 in Sofia, Bulgaria, Coordinator Nephew will deliver a keynote address during a panel discussion at an event organized by the Basel Institute; his speech will be dedicated to the Blue Dot Network initiative as a framework for improving public procurement practices, the announcement said. He will also meet with representatives of the private sector, government representatives and civil society organizations to discuss their efforts to engage the private sector in strengthening the rule of law.
