Vladimir Putin's peace proposals can stop the conflict in Ukraine almost immediately, said Yury Ushakov, assistant on foreign policy issues to the Russian president, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.

Putin said on June 14 that he is ready to start peace talks "as early as tomorrow" if Ukraine withdraws its troops from Zaporozhye, Kherson, Donetsk and Luhansk, the agency recalls.

Ushakov pointed out that the purpose of the Russian president's proposal is to prevent future conflicts similar to the Ukrainian one. In his words, the option presented by Putin "opens up an opportunity to end the armed confrontation and move in a political and diplomatic direction". The adviser to the Russian president emphasized that Moscow has put a plan on the table, the adoption of which will "literally allow us to immediately stop hostilities".

Ushakov expressed hope that the proposal of the Russian president will not be ignored. "If you take a dispassionate view of it and think about it, you will indeed find a grain of reason in it. And most importantly, this is a chance to immediately stop the fighting on the battlefield and not lose more people," the Kremlin representative stressed.

Ushakov presented his position on the so-called "Primakovsky readings". This forum has been held since 2015 and discusses scenarios for the development of international relations, challenges in the field of international security and other global issues.
